What's Bitnorth?
Bitcurrent is going to be running an event called Bitnorth the weekend of September 5 at Camp CAMMAC in the Laurentians.
How much is it? What's in it for me?
The price of the weekend is $300. This includes everything from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon -- food, accommodations, and entertainment. It's a great location and promises to be a fantastic weekend with a bunch of interesting people. We're aiming for 40-50 people but may go as high as 70; this is the first year so we don't really know.
What are we doing?
The format of the event is collaborative; attendees are expected to contribute. Everyone has to be prepared to present for 10 minutes, moderate, show a video, or participate in a panel surrounding the theme; then the organizers pick the presentations and content from what's submitted. We're hoping this will lead to lots of people with strong opinions and great discussion.
We're also making lots of time for relaxing and hanging out. Sunday will have two tracks -- headspace, for those who want more geeking out; and meatspace, for those who prefer yoga, massage and the like. And if attendance permits, we're going to have a decent party Saturday night.
What's the catch?
Be warned: This is a camp. If you're fussy about sharing bathrooms, you may want to consider a hotel in the area (but it's still $300 either way.) We're betting that most attendees can handle a weekend at band camp. Flutes not included.
